There are three common hairstyles among highschool boys. The first is a close clipper cut along the sides and back with the top blended into the sides and left about finger length, this style usually has the bangs left a little longer so they can be worn either spiked up or left down.

The second is a medium layered cut (parents kinda hate this one) The hair is usually long enough to cover the ears and falls ';over the collar'; of a dress shirt. Bangs are left long, but out of the eyes to make the parents happy. This style is also razored to give the edges a nice soft look.

The third is the ';faux hawk'; or fake mohawk. Sides and back are clippered nice and short. The top is left long,(about 2-3 inches) but all is blended. The top is then styled by pushing most of it towards the middle to create a ';mohawk'; Bangs are spiked up.
